HSE framework

How safety works on a Northline job

Not slogans — the specific rules, training and routines our crews follow every day.

Stop-work authority — used, not just written

Every person on a Northline job, including subcontractors and apprentices, carries a stop-work card. In 2025 crews used it 214 times; each stop is logged, the person who called it is thanked by name in the weekly bulletin, and none has ever led to disciplinary action.

Training matrix per role

Technicians complete 64 hours of mandatory HSE training before first mobilisation (GWO/OPITO/NOGEPA as required, H2S, confined space, working at height, rigging). Competence is re-verified every 24 months and tracked per person in our training matrix, available to clients on audit.

Incident and near-miss reporting in 15 minutes

Incidents and near misses are reported from the field via our mobile app within 15 minutes and classified within 24 hours. Every high-potential event gets a TapRooT® investigation, and learnings are shared across all bases within 7 days.

Job safety analysis before every task

Crews run a job safety analysis on site before starting, even for repeat jobs. Supervisors verify isolation certificates and gas tests in person, and pressure-testing never starts until the exclusion zone is barriered and signed.

Fatigue and health management

Maximum 12-hour shifts, 14/21 offshore rotation, and a fatigue risk management system that blocks mobilisation when rest rules are breached. Annual health checks for all field personnel.

Environment

Zero-discharge test water handling at Tananger, 100% renewable electricity at Norwegian sites, and HOCNF-registered chemicals only. Scope 1–2 emissions reported annually.

The best measure of our safety culture is not the absence of incidents — it is how often people use their right to stop the job.
